Ghana Passport Biometrics — Los Angeles Visit

The Ghana Embassy in Washington, D.C. will travel to Los Angeles to collect biometrics. Follow the steps below carefully to secure your appointment.

Important: You must complete your application AND make payment before your appointment day. Without payment, your application will not appear in the embassy system. The embassy cannot accept payment on-site.

Complete your application and make payment online

Go to the Ghana passport online portal and complete your application form. Then make your payment online through the portal before your appointment date.

Payment is required. If payment is not made, your name will not appear in the embassy system and you will not be seen on the day.

Having payment trouble? Use the 222 shortcode

If you are unable to make the online payment yourself due to technical problems, you can ask a trusted relative or friend in Ghana to pay on your behalf using the 222 shortcode.

After they pay, they will receive a reference code. Ask them to send that code to you right away.

Email your reference code to GhanaSoCal by May 14, 2026:

Send it to [email protected] and include your full name in the email.

GhanaSoCal will compile a list of all confirmed applicants and send it to the embassy before they travel to Los Angeles. This helps the embassy prepare in advance and makes the process much faster on your appointment day.

What to bring on May 16 or 17

On the day of your appointment, please bring all of the following:

  • A printed copy of your completed application form
  • Your Ghana passport — current or expired — OR your birth certificate if you do not have a passport
  • A prepaid return envelope so the embassy can mail your new passport back to you once it is printed

For children (minors under 18)

  • The child’s birth certificate
  • The passport of one parent or one grandparent
  • A signed consent form from both parents
